During a visit to Dubai World offices, Mr Shotte said his government was particularly interested in seeking know-how in the fields of free zone, port and airport management, as well as establishing a bridge of cooperation that links Caribbean countries to the Middle East region, using Dubai as a gateway.

During his visit, Mr Shotte and his delegation met Salma Hareb CEO of Jafza, Mohammed Muallem, Executive Director, DP World and Ibrahim Mohammed Al Janahi, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority’s Executive Vice President.

Ms. Hareb, said, ‘Dubai World has under its umbrella a large number of companies with business interest in different sectors, such as real-estate, investment and management and operation of ports and free zones. This enables the Group to offer comprehensive solutions to giant real-estate enterprises.’

The visiting minister said, ‘Curacao offers excellent opportunities for investors in the hotel sector, which is expanding so rapidly that we are working on doubling the number of hotel rooms from 3,000 to 6,000 in order to accommodate the growing number of tourists.’

He added, ‘Curacao looks forward to emulating the Dubai Experience so as to achieve its ambitions in becoming a business hub that serves the neighboring area in Latin America.’

Mr Shotte said, ‘My visit to Dubai is aimed at establishing economic and business relations, especially when we know that more than 20 million people of Arabic origins live in South America.’
