Dubai Maritime City participates in world’s leading shipbuilding trade fair at Hamburg
Dubai Maritime City – the world’s largest and the most comprehensive maritime complex in the world – has announced its participation at the 22nd International Shipbuilding Trade Fair (SMM 2006) at Hamburg, Germany this month.
This week, between September 26 and 29, SMM 2006 – the world’s leading shipbuilding trade fair – will bring together over 1,669 exhibitors from 50 countries, who will showcase high-tech products and technologies for shipyards, marine equipment suppliers and marine technology specialists. The trade fair is expected to attract over 40,000 trade visitors from 100-plus countries.
Participation in the prestigious exhibition will provide Dubai Maritime City an unprecedented opportunity to not only display the unique aspects of the iconic development but also shed light on its progress to the global maritime community and related industries.
In his comments, Mr. Ahmed Bin Harib, Assistant Sales Manager of Dubai Maritime City, said: ‘Our presence at SMM 2006 reflects the strategic importance of the trade fair. At the exhibition, we will not only showcase the unique aspects of our multi-developmental project to the maritime community and related industry players, but also present a broad synopsis of how the City will be soon become the hub for the global maritime industry, offering one-stop-shop services and catering to all industry requirements.’
He added: ‘SMM 2006 is the global marketplace for the maritime community with representation from nearly 20 national contingents besides thousands of companies from around the globe. In view of this, it will be an ideal platform to meet the Who’s Who from the global shipbuilding and maritime sector. At the fair, we will showcase the rapid progress achieved by us in accomplishing the unique Dubai Maritime City concept.’
When completed, Dubai Maritime City will be the world’s biggest and the most comprehensive maritime complex spread across 227 hectares of man-made peninsula between Port Rashid and Dubai Dry Docks, and will be surrounded by the waters of the Arabian Gulf.
The 22nd International Shipbuilding Fair, to be held from 9.30am to 6pm on all days, will focus on a wide array of industry sectors including shipyards, marine equipment, propulsion systems, ship operation plants, ship electrical and electronics systems, marine technology, maritime services and the special super yacht segment.
The supporting programme at the trade fair will feature over 140 events, including a wide range of congresses, symposia, workshops, conferences and panel discussions and numerous official receptions.
