Argentine Minister holds talks with CEOs of DP World, Jafza
The Minister of Production for the Argentinean Province of Buenos Aires, Mrs. Debora Giorgi visited DP World and Jebel Ali Free Zone on Sunday (November 26) to discuss issues of mutual interest, and to learn from the two companies’ experience operating terminals and freezones around the world.
The Minister, accompanied by a four-member delegation including the Ambassador of Argentina to the UAE, Ruben Caro, met Mohammad Sharaf, CEO, DP World, and Ms. Salma Hareb, CEO, Jafza and Economic Zones World.
Mr. Mohammad Sharaf gave the minister a detailed briefing on DP World and its global operations, and DP World’s unique strategy which has made it a leading global port and terminal operator with 51 marine terminals in 24 countries.
Highlighting the core values and the rapid global expansion of DP World, Mr. Mohammad Sharaf said, ‘The growth we have achieved over the past three years has been in the making for the past 30 years, beginning with a belief and trust in our people, from which grew a focus on our customers, which in turn instilled the need to maintain and promote quality. Once we were sure of maintaining an exceptional level of quality, we went global.’
He added, ‘DP World and the Jebel Ali Free Zone are dynamically linked, which facilitates the seamless movement of cargo. This is a model we take with us wherever we can.’
Jafza’s CEO, Ms Hareb said, ‘Jafza has relentlessly kept pace with the phenomenal growth of Dubai over the past decade.
‘Jafza is also focusing on world markets through Jebel Ali Free Zone International (Jafzi), offering a complete range of services from consultancy to investments. Our policy is to foster long-term customer relationship and life-long alliances.’
The Argentine minister, Mrs Giorgi, said, ‘We have observed with keen interest the operational synergy created between Jebel Ali Free Zone and DP World. I am really impressed with the explosive growth in Dubai, and the massive scale on which DP World has expanded its operations throughout the world.’
Mrs Giorgi thanked Mr Sharaf and Ms Hareb for their hospitality and said that her visit was an interesting learning experience.
