Dubai World, one of the world’s largest holding companies, is set to make an impact at the annual Careers UAE Exhibition 2007 next month in an effort to recruit greater local talent from across the UAE.

The Careers Fair, being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) March 13-15, is the largest and most comprehensive careers event for UAE nationals and is expected to draw a large number of young people.

This year would see Dubai World participating in it for the first time as a group and showcasing many of its business units.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World, said:

‘Dubai World’s participation at the annual Careers UAE Exhibition 2007 is an indicator of our commitment towards providing employment to talented and bright Emarati youth. Dubai is a shining example of how hard work and persistence can be translated into tangible, rewarding results.’

Companies such as Nakheel, Jadaf Dubai, Jafza, Istithmar, Dubai Maritime City, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), Dubai Customs, ITC & CED (Civil Engineering Department) have all confirmed their participation.

This will be the seventh consecutive year that some of these business units will be participating in the UAE Careers Fair.

Officials from these companies will actively welcome and interact with young Emarati job aspirants in order to encourage them to apply for vacancies across a wide variety of sectors.

At the Careers Fair Dubai World, one of the largest holding companies in the world, plans to offer job opportunities in all departments and projects of the group to local men and women.

Mr Bin Sulayem said:

‘We at Dubai World are fully aware of the importance of investing in human resources. The Emarati Project developed and launched by Dubai World has helped in closing the gap, especially at the senior levels where a majority of positions are filled by UAE nationals. This is entirely in line with the strategic objectives of the Government of Dubai.’

The group has a proactive policy of encouraging local talent within its management ranks. Last year it partnered with the Wharton Business School in Pennsylvania, USA, to launch the Dubai Leaders Program.

Under the Program the most promising managers are hand-picked to undergo a custom-designed learning program spanning Dubai, Wharton, Singapore, Hong Kong and mainland China. The course seeks to instill academic as well as practical instructions to the future leaders of Dubai through a holistic hands-on experience.

The Careers Fair is designed to recruit the most talented and committed Emarati nationals who have their vision set on contributing to the country’s economic growth.
