Portuguese firms show keen interest in Jafza and Techno Park

A large number of Portuguese firms have shown keen interest in setting up regional headquarters in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and Techno Park, following a seminar organized by the Arab-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lisbon and Porto.

Ibrahim Al Janahi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Sales, Jafza, and Hamad Al Hashemi, Managing Director, Techno Park recently visited Portugal to introduce Economic Zones World, the parent company of Jafza and Techno Park.

Mr Janahi, commenting on the EZW business trip, said:

‘The purpose of the visit was to create greater awareness among Portuguese Investor-Entrepreneurs about Jafza and Techno Park’s strategic position and offerings to tap huge business opportunities existing in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East region. Following our successful meetings with major firms, we are expecting a large number of companies to approach both, Jafza and Techno Park in the near future.’

The EZW officials also met high level executives at the Portuguese Ministry of Economy and heads of the Chambers of Commerce in Lisbon and Porto, as well as officials in charge of developing and promoting international trade.

The delegation also included Mansoor Al Bastaki, Assistant Sales Manager – Europe, Jafza, and Ahmed Matar, Assistant Sales Manager, Jafza.

Portuguese-owned businesses have been operating out of Jafza since 1987, and are engaged in the manufacture and trading in various products and services, ranging from computer components to marine structures and oilfield supplies.
