DP World in consortium awarded to equip and operate Maasvalkte 2 development in Rotterdam

The Port of Rotterdam announced that the consortium consisting of DP World, Mitsui OSK Lines, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Neptune Orient Lines and CMA CGM has been awarded the right to equip and operate the first Terminal in the Maasvlakte 2 development in Rotterdam.

Sultan Bin Sulayem, DP World Chairman commented: ‘We are delighted that our consortium has been awarded the right to equip and operate the first Terminal in the Maasvlakte 2 Development. We very much look forward to working with our partners CMA-CGM, Hyundai Merchant Marine and TNWA Lines to make this a successful addition to the Port of Rotterdam’

Having been selected by our consortium partners to manage the operations of the Terminal, we believe that our global experience and expertise will contribute significantly to the benefit of all stakeholders in the Terminal.’

Masakazu Yakushiji, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Executive Vice President commented: ‘We are very pleased and proud to be awarded. Ronald D. Widdows, CEO of NOL’s container shipping line APL, commented: ‘We are very pleased to be part of the winning Maasvlakte 2 consortium. Henri Archambeaud, Manager for Ports and Systems Engineering in CMA CGM’s port operator Terminal Link, commented: ‘CMA CGM is glad to be part of the first container terminal of the largest scale port development in Europe. It is another step in the Group strategic move toward the ports and terminals industry. We trust the future facility will set a new standard of container terminal designed to handle the next generation of mega ships we and our partners have on order.’
