Pusan Newport accelerate to be a hub of Northeast Asia
DP World operated Pusan Newport Co (PNC) has secured the services of one the most dynamic Latin America based shipping services at its marine terminal in Busan New Port in South Korea.
CSAV will migrate its Andex Service and Pacar service from Busan Old Port to PNC.
The shipping line will bring a total of approximately 80,000 TEUs per year to the marine terminal. The move is expected to happen in early August.
CSAV’s move to PNC is significant as Busan Newport builds its reputation as a gateway for North East Asia. Busan New Port will be further boosted by the new Hanjin facility, which is scheduled to open at the start of 2009 and bring an additional 1.8 mn TEU (twenty-foot equivalent container units) capacity the hub. This will be followed by Hyundai’s new facility which is expected to expand the capacity of the hub by 1.7mn TEUs.
CSAV joins other large shipping services, such as United Arab Shipping Company, ZIM lines and etc. whom already call at PNC.
Welcoming the decision of CSAV, Patrick Bol, Executive M.D. of DP World Korea / PNC said: ‘We are delighted that CSAV has decided to move most of their vessel services to PNC. It is a clear acknowledgement of the excellent service and level of productivity that we have been able to provide our customers.’
