Monday, March 30, 2009

Palm Utilities (PU) has announced that Palm District Cooling (PDC) has recently completed the installation work for the Dolphin System on its Gardens plant, becoming the first company in the region to take advantage of the revolutionary water treatment technology.

PDC has implemented the Dolphin System as part of several initiatives launched this year to ensure consistently high-quality utility services, optimise water consumption and contribute in safeguarding the environment.

The Dolphin System is an environmentally friendly water treatment system that eliminates scale and the need for chemicals in water treatment and helps minimise water usage. The technology has been embraced by reputed utility firms from around the world and is widely recognised for its water-saving features and for eliminating hazardous chemicals used in cooling towers water treatment.

Shafiq Khoori, Managing Director, PDC said:
‘Palm District Cooling has always been deeply committed to providing innovative solutions that are not only cost efficient, but also contribute positively to the protection of our environment. With the installation of the Dolphin System in one of our plants, we are addressing this key issue at its core as the newly installed water treatment system will significantly cut down water usage and provide a chemical free solution for treating process water.’

PDC currently provides district cooling services to several prestigious mega developments in the UAE, including the Gardens Residential Complex, Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Discovery Gardens and Palm Jumeirah. Being the first in the region to implement the environmentally friendly water treatment system, PDC is expected to realize powerful green advantages and expand their opportunities to earn LEED Green Building rating system certification.

Palm Utilities, through PDC and Palm Water, has been established to address the region’s unique requirements in the distinctly critical areas of district cooling, and wastewater treatment. PU has revealed that it is exploring possible joint venture initiatives for other utility projects in the Middle East, and across Asia as part of its growth strategy for 2009.
