Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Imdaad, the UAE’s leading integrated facilities management company, will mark the World Environment Day on Friday, June 5, with a series of exciting activities for youngsters under its ambitious environment awareness initiative “Beati”.

The Friday evening programme will kick off with a session on recycling, one of the basic themes of Beati and an area of special interest to Imdaad’s waste management operations.

The highlight of the events, to be held at the China Court of Ibn Batuta Mall, will be an exhibition of drawings and paintings on recycling by school children. The art competition is expected to evoke great interest among students from various schools.

A total of 94 art works will compete for honours in a contest and a panel of judges will select the best three for special prizes. The winning students as well as other participants will be presented with mementos.

Jamal Lootah, Chief Executive Officer of Imdaad, said: “It will be a great occasion for us to interact with the school children, parents and teachers on the World Environment Day. Since its launch Beati’s success has exceeded our expectations. It has generated a genuine interest on environmental issues among school children and raises our hopes for an environmentally-conscious and sustainable future for our society. Beati is an open-ended campaign and is very close to the Imdaad’s policy of green-focussed facilities management operations.”

“Khaddour,” the fun-loving green leaf mascot of the Beati campaign, has proved a major hit with the youngsters, and is used creatively to spread the message of recycling among them.

Beati, based on the slogan “My environment, B’cos I want my world,” is designed to focus children’s attention on the concepts of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle,” encouraging them to protect the environment by avoiding waste in their every day activities.

Imdaad launched Beati for school children on February 4 – the UAE Environment Day – in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dubai Municipality and Union Paper Mills.

Imdaad provides top class FM services and solutions to international clients such as Nakheel, Jafza, DP World, UAE Region, Dubai Customs and Limitless. The company’s operation covers the entire UAE. Some of the major projects Imdaad has undertaken include Palm Jumeirah, The Gardens, Atlantis, International City, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Ibn Batuta Mall, Dubai Maritime City and Wasl-DREC.
