Limitless, the Dubai-based master developer, is supporting Dubai World’s Against Breast Cancer (ABC) campaign with a series of workshops for female employees.
The events are designed to educate and inform delegates about the risks and symptoms of breast cancer, highlighting how early detection of the disease can significantly increase recovery rates.
Dubai World’s ABC campaign, launched earlier this year, works in collaboration with US-based Vital Voices and the US-Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. Under the scheme, nominated staff from each Dubai World business unit undergo special training before running a workshop for colleagues. So far, ABC has educated more than 1,500 women in the Dubai World group.
The Limitless workshops are led by Suha El Mizari and Juanita Ranasinghe.
“Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide. In the Middle East, lack of awareness means that around 70 per cent of cases are not diagnosed until the disease is at an advanced stage,” said Juanita.
“Ongoing advances in research and screening techniques are helping in the battle against breast cancer, and our workshops will help further by educating women – and men for that matter – on methods for early detection,” added Suha.
