Dubai Trade to honour top five E-service users at ESEA 2009

Move to encourage more companies to take the online way
Dubai Trade, the innovative online trade platform of Dubai World, widened the scope of its prestigious E-Service Excellence Award (ESEA) 2009 to honour five top leaders in the field of electronic payment service adoption. One award winner and four best performers who made significant contribution to the use and development of Dubai Trade e-payment Gateway ROSOOM will be announced at the award ceremony to be held on Tuesday, 19 January 2010 at Raffles Hotel.
The ESEA, launched as part of Dubai Trade’s commitment to encourage the adoption of electronic services and its usage, named one winner in its inaugural event in 2008. The expansion of its scope comes out of the service provider’s efforts to promote more performers and strengthen its campaign.
The unique annual initiative, first of its kind in the region, features a new theme every year targeting a specific area of electronic service. This year ESEA is themed on ROSOOM, the centralised e-payment gateway.
The selection will be based on criteria that reflect the adoption percentage of online transactions through Dubai Trade’s integrated ROSOOM platform and the volume of transactions made in 2009.
High profile leaders from Dubai’s business community will attend the ceremony, including Dubai Trade customers, partners, bankers and Dubai Government executives in addition to Dubai Trade Board Members and senior management from the group’s business units.
Mahmood Al Bastaki, Director of Dubai Trade, said: “By recognizing five leading performers, ESEA 2009 is taking the message of online transaction to a wider base. Dubai Trade believes this effort will encourage more companies to use electronic options and move away from tedious and time consuming documentation methods.”
ROSOOM, the centralized e-payment gateway on www.dubaitrade.ae offers a wide range of electronic payment services for customers to make online transactions with leading commercial establishments such as DP World, Economic Zones World and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre. Further, ROSOOM services are extended to Palm Utilities and Leisure Corp through their designated websites. Dubai Trade will soon roll-out ROSOOM to Dubai World Business Units as well as other external trade related entities.
It is currently one of the most efficient and secured online payment systems accessed by Dubai’s trading community of more than 21,000 registered companies and there is a high potential to grow the list of companies exponentially. ROSOOM provides several payment methods to the users that includes payment through credit card facility (VISA and MASTER), e-Dirham card issued by the Ministry of Finance and Direct Debit method that enables real-time transfer of funds. Currently, ROSOOM is linked with a variety of leading banks for direct debit payment method such as Emirates NBD, Commercial Bank of Dubai, Standard Chartered Bank, Emirates Islamic Bank and more banks will be added soon.
The portal’s 650 online services played an important role in helping the UAE move up to be among the top five economies in the world in the “Trading across Borders” topic of the World Bank’s “Doing Business” report for 2010.
