Lord Peter Mandelson, the British Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills yesterday toured DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali terminal and met with HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World and DP World.

Also attending were DP World Executive Vice Chairman and Dubai World CEO Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, DP World CEO Mohammed Sharaf, HE Edward Oakden, British Ambassador to the UAE, and HE Guy Warrington, the British Consul General in Dubai.

Lord Mandelson and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown last month visited DP World’s London Gateway project on the Thames River, where work on essential infrastructure for Europe’s largest combined deep-sea port and logistics park is set to begin in the next few months.

Welcoming Lord Mandelson to Jebel Ali, HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said:
“Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone is the model for our vision of London Gateway and connected business park in the UK. We are delighted to be able to contribute our expertise and experience to this important project, further enhancing the close relationship between the UK and the UAE.”
